There truly is not a specific picture for what the idea body should look like. Sexy comes in all shapes and sizes. What matters is being the best we can be. Feeling good in our own skin. It has taken lots of hard work and dedication for me to feel sexy in a bikini. My goal has always been to be a mermaid…so I am trying to get closer one step at a time.
Here is a challenge for you – after your next shower, stay undressed and take a moment to look at yourself in the mirror. Notice what you see and how critical you are of yourself. What parts of your body do you see that are beautiful? What parts of you are places you purposely ignore? I know this is not a comfortable subject – but there is a purpose to doing this exercise. We need to look deep within the mirror sometime so we can see what is going on.
Try to find at least 3 things you find attractive about yourself. It could be your smile, your freckles, your curves, your feet…the list goes on. Take the time to see past the things that you constantly notice.
Go ahead and put your robe back on. Get a pen and paper and write down 3 things you find attractive about yourself. Now write down 3 things that you would like to work on (physically).
Put this list somewhere you will see it daily.
When I did this exercise – I laughed a lot in the beginning. Looking at my bare body in the mirror at every imperfection was not so fun. But I realized that I could easily come up with 1240983 things I wanted to change about myself and it was much harder to come up with more than 3 of the things I really admired. That is when I knew this was a good exercise.
I even found a photo of someone with a similar body type to mine and I used that as motivation to make small daily changes.
The biggest lesson of this exercise for me was how much I was focusing on the WRONG stuff. We are taught at a young age to look a certain way, act a certain way and I realize now that is a bunch of BS.
My advice: Spend time truly discovering who you are. What you love about yourself and embrace all of the great things you have. This is not an easy task, but it is so rewarding.
Find a go to outfit that you feel great it. Hell, find a pair of shoes or a certain hairstyle that makes you smile.
